Spiderman: Web of Vengeance

Rain poured down over the local Queens neighborhood. Sirens wailed in the distance. Smoke curled from the wreckage of a modest area home.

Peter Parker stared at the body of Uncle Ben. Lifeless on the cracked concrete, the shield's impact still visible in the cratered wall behind him.

Captain America stood tall above the scene, his uniform pristine, his voice cold.

"He was draining this country. Living off the work of others. Collecting benefits and contributing nothing in return."

"He. Was. Old."

Cap added confidently, "This was the only way. God bless America."

Peter's fists trembled. This wasn't the Steve Rogers he admired. This was something twisted. Something broken by the government's radicalization of American citizens. The moral decay reaching its lowest point.

With a snarl, Spider-man launched himself into the air, eyes burning red with rage. Cap moved fast but Peter was faster. So much faster. No quips. No hesitation. Only fury.

The first punch pulverized a door. Cap parried with a soldier's precision but there was very little he could realistically do against someone with Peter's strength and speed.

Peter feigned high, webbed Cap's boots to the street and flipped overhead - landing a brutal kick that sent Captain America sprawling through a taxi.

"You killed him," Peter growled, unleashing a barrage of punches on Captain America, each one striking with the force of sledgehammers breaking concrete.

"For what?" Peter yelled. "For ideals you don't even understand anymore?"

Cap attempted to toss his shield in one final gasp of hope but Peter caught it midair. His fingers dug into it like claws. "You didn't serve your country. You committed murder!"

Just then, Peter heard Uncle Ben's last words echoing in his ears:

"Don't punish the symptom, Peter... fight the disease. They are victims too."

With a scream, Peter slammed the shield down beside Captain America, shattering the concrete as Cap's broken body rolled to the side, barely hanging on to life. A life Peter had just spared.

Blood stained the red, white and blue... of Captain America's uniform.

As masked, tattooed government policy-enforcers moved in, Peter vanished into the night. He left behind a limp Captain America lying in the ruins of his newfound ideology.
