WWW Browser Operations

• Basic Operation
  Key in the URL of a desired home page in the URL display field on the screen, and press Enter. The desired page will be displayed. Click any anchored field (where a URL of another page is embedded) on the page to jump to the linked page.

  • Menu icons
    There are 12 menu icons. These correspond to the function keys from F1 through F12; that is, the leftmost icon corresponds to F1, the second icon from the left to F2, and so forth.
  • Title display field
    The title of the displayed page is indicated.
  • URL display field
    Key in the URL you want to display;
    WebBoy uses the same field to indicate the URL of the currently displayed page.
  • Globe field
    The globe rotates while a requested page is being downloaded.
  • Message field
    The progress of downloading is indicated here. When you place the mouse pointer on an anchored field (in which the URL of another page is embedded), the URL is displayed here.
  • Downloading progress indicator field
    While a page is being downloaded, the upper half of this field indicates the progress in downloading the image information, while the lower half indicates the progress in downloading the whole page. While mail is being received, the progress is similarly indicated.
  • Clock/Connection time field
    For dial-up connection, the connection time is displayed. For LAN connection, the present time is displayed.

• Keyboard Operations
  Keys F1 through F12 can be used instead of the 12 menu icons. Short-cut keys such as Tab can be used to move the cursor from one hotspot (anchored field or input field) to another. A cross-hair cursor is displayed in an image map, and can be moved by using the up/down/right/left arrow keys, which makes it possible to navigate pages without using a mouse.

  h/f	While the cursor is not placed in any input field, pressing the "h" key will put "http://" in the URL Display Field; while pressing "f" will display "file:///". Press Esc to restore the original screen conditions.

• Mouse Operations
  Click one of the menu icons. If the clicked icon has a sub-menu, it will be presented as a pull-down menu. An anchored field is indicated in a special color. When the mouse pointer is placed on an anchored field, the URL embedded in the field is displayed in the Message field; clicking causes a jump to the URL.
